A Living and Future Hope

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." (NASB - I Peter 1:3)

Living in a world that is rapidly changing is not easy. We pray and hope for a good outcome in 2012 for ourselves and our country, yet it is difficult to be positive when unemployment is soaring and our national debt is now nearly 16 trillion. Families are on the brink of disaster, suicide is at an all time high, and people are crying out, "Where is God when we need Him?" Things are so bad that it would be easy to "curse God and die" as Job was instructed by his wife (Job 2:9) when things seemed hopeless. But certainly that is not a solution for us as believers in Christ; and we do have a steadfast hope (I Pet. 1:3).

Some believers today are saying: "I'm just burned-out." Some are focusing on what they don't have, and ignoring what they do have. I am often amazed how my dear wife, Jan, functions under such tremendous responsibility and stress. Most of the time she handles it well, and I consider her a professional juggler. Even as I write this article, she hurriedly left our home only moments ago to take care of a computer problem at the AEGA Headquarters. She seems to have a knack for fixing things. But she also must balance life at home, the office, the church, and caring for her precious 90 year old mother. An amazing woman, she works 24/7! Only through God's power, which energizes her, is this possible.

It was Jan who created a unique bumper-sticker two years ago that is now seen on many AEGA vehicles - "The Kingdom of God is not in Recession." How true this is. Rather than focusing on saying to ourselves, "I'm stressed-out ... I'm frustrated ... I'm tired ... I'm giving-up ... or I'm going to panic," ... why not say something positive to ourselves? In psychology this is called "self-talk." In addition to talking to God, Christians also carry on internal conversations. Talking to yourself doesn't mean you are crazy because everyone carries on this internal conversation in their minds everyday. In fact, research has proved that more conversation flows through the mind than flows out of the mouth. However, rather than entertaining negative "self-talk," wouldn't it better to say "God is in control ... God will empower me to overcome every obstacle ... God wants me to press on ... God doesn't want me to give-up?" And if you are worried about finances, just add to this what Jan said ... "The Kingdom of God is not in Recession." Amen!

Yes, life can be hard; and it is harder for some at this point in time than for others. But, as believers, we must put our hope and trust in Christ to take control over our circumstances. Scripture does NOT promise us an easy life because we follow Christ; in fact, some of our wounds may not be corrected during our lifetime. But God has something good in store for His children. So put a smile on your face and rejoice because your present condition is only temporary. If you have that living hope in Christ, you can deal with your present condition. Just remember that the Lord has something great in store for you which lies ahead ... and HE is our stabilizer.

As we enter the New Year, I believe that the Lord has great things for the A.E.G.A.  The core of our foundation, Constitution and By-Laws have not significantly changed.  Our Board of Directors and our Board of Bishops have had the foresight to change to some degree our way of administering our Vision, in order to continue to meet the needs of our fellowship here in the U.S. and around the world.  I believe that this year, 2012, will be a new release for our fellowship.  This new release of God's power through the Holy Spirit will enable us to reach far and wide to provide God's people with spiritual guidance into God's eternal plan and purpose for mankind.  Evangel Christian University of America and Omega Bible Institute will excel in preparing men and women to spread the gospel of Christ around the world.  I believe that Bible prophecy is rapidly being fulfilled, and that Jesus in coming soon....  MARANATHA!

jesseGreetings everyone!

I know that for many last year (2011) may have been a hard year; but speaking to the church with a pastors heart, I feel if we (the church) will do our best to walk in line with God and His Word, this will be an exciting year for us. Surely we have come too far to turn back, or to sit down on the side lines because we are weary. Let us advance, declaring the words of Joshua ... "Let us go up at once and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it"

JACK ernestI feel that we are being called to "Endure" ... And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matthew 24:12-13 KJV

I believe that we are going to be tested on all sides. I believe that the Lord is calling us to become even more steadfast and immovable. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58 NASB We must realize what is being required of us as His followers. We must realize how late it is. We need to be prepared. We need to also realize how important unity is in His body because a three stranded cord is not easily broken! We need to boldly proclaim His Word in these last days without compromise.

rocky suiteAs I travel throughout the country, I see a great need for encouragement to the Body of Christ. With the economic situation we are currently facing, many folks (and churches) are in a place of uncertainty. Many of the churches that I regularly visit are having to "cut back" in all areas of their ministry. And as I talk with pastors in my travels, I sense a concern that is very serious. In times like this, people tend to start searching for answers. Unfortunately, in many cases, they search for answers in the wrong places. I feel the Lord has shown me that this is a time when we are going to have to be "REAL" Christians. We must be grounded in the Word and in prayer, and be willing to truly trust in Him. We need to seek balance in our walk with the Lord and not be lured into these so called "everybody can own a jet" ministries. There will be many deceiving spirits (and ministries) during this time just as God has warned us in His Word. Yes, God is faithful and will bring us through these times. So, let's keep our eyes on the Lord and on His Word, and not on a "formula." Let's desire to see souls won into the Kingdom of God ... now that's true prosperity! Jesus loves you and so do I!

relifordThe year 2012 will be a pivotal time for the church.  There will be an increased effort to silence its voice.  In spite of this, the Kingdom of God will prevail and those who do not falter, will shine forth as the sun.  The Son of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings.  Do not be afraid or dismayed. Through Christ, we are "more than conquerors."

As I prayed, I was impressed that 2012 will be a most challenging year.  But in the midst of the challenge, we will see God move mightily.  I heard the Spirit say that it will not be "business as usual" this year.  God desires to use us in ways that we are not familiar with. HE will bring us out of our comfort zones to a place where we must rely on the Spirit. We can no longer relax in our strength or our methods. It is also a year in which we must increase our time of praying in the Spirit. Doing so will keep us in tune with the Spirit, built up in the Spirit, and hearing clearly from God.  As we pray more, we will hear more clearly and walk boldly in what we hear the Spirit say ... and we will see HIM work wonderfully.

The Fields Are White, Get Us Back On Track Lord ... I recall when NASA had to make a short burn for one of their space capsules to get back on trajectory or it would keep them from completing their mission and fly back into outer space. Without a tiny, small recalibration, the spacecraft could have traveled thousands of miles off target. The Lord has revealed to me about getting back to basic witnessing and soul winning. In doing so, we need to be "recalibrated." To do it, we must be calibrated like a fine scale. (Proverbs 16:11) NKJV says honest weights and scales are the Lord's, and all the weights in His bag are His work ... so we must be measured by a STANDARD. Webster defines "standard" as "established by a sovereign power as a rule or measure by which others are to be adjusted." We are measured against this standard. Also, Webster defines the thing to be calibrated as "A-UNIT-UNDER TEST!" WOW! (Watch this closely) And, the design or unit has to be able to hold the calibration. This is a compelling task for all true disciples. The Lord said we must do some going to fullfil this call of harvesting. "If there is to be Witnessing, there must be some WENTnessing!" We are not HERE to get out of Here, rather we are HERE to CHANGE HERE before we leave Here!! If we measure up to the test and hold a calibration, we will be very successful for the kingdom in harvesting a bumper crop.

There are 4 things God has impressed upon my heart that I want to share with you as we begin 2012. First, I am convinced that everything we have to do must begin with God. Thus, our vision, mission, plans, strategies, programs, expansion, etc. should start with God's revelation and not by human motivation or circumstantial occasion alone. Second, God specializes not only in causing new things to be birthed in our lives and in our ministries, but He is also in the business of renewing, reviving and revitalizing what He has already given to us This includes our passion, our dream, our relationships, our ministries, etc. Third, I believe God wants us to deepen our relationship as members of AEGA, building and strengthening our connections and partnership with other churches, ministers and ministries and Christian groups in the body of Christ. Finally, we must recognize that AEGA has a unique and a special place in the body of Christ; and we, as AEGA members, will continue to fulfill our calling with distinction wherever the Lord sends us.

As a pastor in Soeul, S. Korea, I have seen God give his servants favor. It is evident that, even in difficult times, the Lord will take care of our every need. God is alive and well. When a neighbor shows love, it is actually the Lord giving His love to us. So this year I feel the Lord is telling us to show more love one to another.
