GOD'S INCREDIBLE LOVE
When Jesus was here on earth he used parables about people/events to explain how heaven and God is like in Matt 7:9-11: “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Likewise I will now do to show Gods love for us. This is a fictive relationship between a man and a woman which unfortunately many women can relate to.
“From the outside everything looks fine and they even seem happy. But when the doors are closed the reality is something else. He is impatient, tough and jealous. He boasts and is proud. He is rude and only wants his own needs satisfied. She tries to please him and wishes that he would start changing for better soon. But as soon as something goes wrong he becomes furious and violent against her. Perhaps he had expected the dinner ready the minute he walked in the door and she is just about to set the table. Or perhaps the beer has run out and he lets his anger out on her. She is terrified. He lies about his were-abouts and constantly keeps track on her wrong-doings. He does not care about her and does not have her best interest at sight. He is so jealous that he does not trust her for a second. As soon as she greets another man he suspects something is going on and can never accept her reassurances that he has no reason to be jealous. She loves him and only him. She does everything she can to make him understand that her entire world is around him and that without him she is nothing. In spite of his bad actions she lives in some kind of denial and only sees the very few bright moments and they make it worth to put up with him. Perhaps he can change if only she can endure…”
Human beings are in many ways like this man, towards God and towards our neighbours. Blaming all the evil upon God and not wanting to have anything with him to do. Only wanting every selfish need to be met. Becoming jealous when things are going well for others and thinking that it suits them well if they have troubles. Some people does not care that God exist, even denying His very existence. In spite of all this God still loves us incredibly much. But there are some crucial differences between the woman in the story and God! God has great integrity and does not just put up with us because He is scared of being left alone or that He feels worthless without us. His very existence is not depending on our love for Him. But He knows that He can help us and He also wants to help us. How?
God loves every human being, every man and every woman, with an unconditional, incredible love. He not only love, He is love and He showed His love by doing something extraordinary, something that really matters (1 John 4:8-10, John 15.13) Paul says in Rom 5:7-10 that God demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. While you and I still were separated from God through sin and in that way His enemies, before we even believed in Him, while we were doing things He does not accept, before we even showed Him love He loved us so much that He gave His life for every person, every man and every woman, for you and I. He did it so that mankind would have opportunity to get eternal life. (Joh 3:16)
Adam and Eve chose to be disobedient to God’s instructions at the birth of mankind and it has affected all human beings after them (Gen 2:15-17, 3:1-13). Romans 3:23-26 says that all have sinned. Then some might say “but a little baby, how has it been able to sin yet?” Well, it has not done anything consciously wrong but it has been born with the same genetic wrong “mutation”, if you would like, that killed the spirit in the mankind at the fall of man that we call the event in Genesis we just read. Jesus said to Nicodemus that if a person does not get born again (in the spirit) she will not be able to see the kingdom of God, heaven. She will never understand God’s actions here on earth, not recognizing the Holy Spirit, not be able to live according to the ten commandments, but be enemies to God. She will not even be able to enter into heaven the day she dies or the day Jesus returns.
It is so easy to become saved. Ask Jesus for forgiveness, decide to stop sinning (=repentance), thank Jesus that He did for you on the cross and receive His life. Ask Him to come into your life and become your personal Lord and Saviour and decide to follow Him for the rest of your life.
Shortly after the fall of man we read in Genesis 3:16 that Eve was punished for her disobedience (and Adam in the following verse). To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you." These words are like programmed into our system and our lives and is the factor that makes a woman to stay in a destructive relationship as above mentioned. Should we blame God for this? NO! Instead we shall thank God for giving us the way out of this curse. When Jesus died he paid the price that women have paid through thousands of years. (Gal 3:13) Now Jesus gives other instructions to the men and the women that is very possible to act upon once you have become born again. The instructions to the man can be read in Ef 5:25-33. He is to love her as he loves himself, help her in all ways, take care of her as he takes care of his own body and give her everything she needs. To love her the way Jesus has loved the church and sacrificed Himself for it. When a woman experiences this kind of love, it will never be difficult for her to follow God’s instructions to her; Ef 5:22-24, 33. It says she is to submit and show her husband respect and honour him.
Let us love God back, He who has shown us such an incredible love! Jesus says in Joh 14:23: Ifanyone loves me, he will obey my teaching… Let us obey the words of Jesus, the Word of God (Bible).
The one who loves gives. We can read more about the true love in 1 Cor 13. All these features can be found in our beloved Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for us. With the help of Holy Spirit we too will be able to show God and each other the same love.
